SCVFF Elementary Program Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to see the tri-parish SCVFF Elementary Program in action, to socialize with staff, students and other parents, and to build catholic, Christian community.  Any amount of volunteer time is appreciated whether it is given one time or on a regular basis. Over 110 + volunteers assisted the staff and children with last year’s activities.  We have been impressed, humbled, and thankful for the overwhelming support and the selfless service of these many individuals, and truly appreciate each one! If you are available to assist us, please fill out the Volunteer Ministry Booklet Sign-Up Form.pub  or call 651-439-7142.  Feel free to drop in on your child’s release day. Criminal background checks and a Virtus Training session/video are required of volunteers by the Archdiocese.  This useful training can be applied towards future volunteer and employment opportunities.  Please come and join us.  We welcome parents and grandparents as part of our volunteer team.  We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you.

Please Note:  All volunteers must sign in and out starting this year.  A total of 15 hours is needed for the year in order to receive the $150 stipend.  There is a sign in/out sheet in the office for elementary volunteers.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Lunchroom Assistants (Sept.-May): For one hour (11:30/12:30) each month (8-9x) on your child’s release day or however many times your schedule allows, volunteers are needed to assist the lunchroom supervisor with maintaining lunchroom order and discipline.  Lunchroom rules are posted and available for volunteers.  Volunteers help wipe down tables, carpet sweep, remove garbage and drink containers after the lunch period.  Volunteers are also needed to assist staff members with the ten minute recess period following lunch.  Please check your child’s handbook calendar or our online calendar for class dates each month.

November Carnival-Kitchen Help:  Volunteers are needed for serving items at various food stations.  We need help for two shift times: 6:00-7:15 and 7:15-8:00.  We also need assistance with clean-up after the event.

Bakers:  During the year, we ask for baked or bought items for certain events.  These events include the Carnival-Cake/Bake Walk (November) and Christmas Concert reception (early December).  You will be called or e-mailed before the event if you have marked it on the Bake space of your Time and Talent sheet.

Reception Help:  For each reception during the year, we need volunteers to serve refreshments and assist with clean-up.  The volunteer coordinator will assist you in the process.  Most receptions require only an hour of service. Please check calendar for dates. Our receptions are as follows:

January-Reconciliation reception

April-Student only Pizza Lunch (grades 5 and 6 release days)

May-Family Pizza receptions (grades 1 and 2 release days)

Annual Fundraiser: Volunteers will be called as needed after the date of the event is scheduled each year.
