Participating Parent Scholarship Assistance Program 2009-2010

The tri-parish faith formation team and programs exist to assist parents in raising and educating their children with a strong understanding of Catholic doctrine. Programs are available for all ages and play an integral part in providing the foundation necessary for all of us to both understand and actively participate in joining the Communion of Saints.

To facilitate the religious education of all children we offer scholarship assistance to families unable to pay the full tuition necessary to run these programs. Scholarship assistance carries a requirement of volunteer service hours to qualify for funds. We are dedicated to helping parents educate their children and believe there is no better way to do this than to get parents involved in the program.

The volunteer service hour requirement is 10 hours per student enrolled in the program, up to 30 hours, which must be completed by April 30, 2010. Volunteer service hour opportunities will be posted on the web site and included with future mailings. Thirty (30) hours is not a ceiling for parents, only the minimum that might be required with three or more children in the program. This could be three hours per month over ten months.

Parents volunteering to teach faith formation classes are automatically eligible to receive scholarship assistance if they desire to do so. However, they must still submit a request form to insure accurate bookkeeping. Verbal agreements will not be tracked or honored.

NOTE: families able to pay the full tuition but needing to spread out the payments due to financial constraints may request a payment schedule of up to 6 months running from August through the following February. Invoices will not be sent monthly, it is up to the parents to make their payments on time each month. These families should also use the scholarship assistance form to request a payment schedule even if financial assistance is not requested.

Our goal is to provide all families with a quality faith formation experience, allow for necessary financial assistance, and deliver successful programs within a very tight budget.

Questions regarding the scholarship program or payment arrangements should be directed to Bob Collett, Director of Corporations; email bcollett@costm.org.
