As we continue to meet the needs of our families and the children of St. Charles, St. Mary’s, and St. Michael’s, we recognize that it is essential for us to provide an excellent faith formation program that is all encompassing and that reaches out to all our members. The following options have been designed to meet the needs of our tri-parish families. We offer four options for faith formation classes and more information can be found on the links to each program detailing them.
Option 1: Day-Release Program
The Day-Release program is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The curriculum used is the Image of God series from Ignatius Press. Students are released from the public school they attend on assigned days to attend faith formation classes in St. Mary’s Education Center. Class sessions will run from 8:00 am – 1:30 pm. Families are responsible for dropping their students of the morning of their Faith Formation class. We will continue to bus them back to their respective schools at the end of the day. Each grade meets once a month from September through May. Bill Klein will continue to be the coordinator of the Day-Release Program.
Option 2: Wednesday Afternoon (Grades K – 6) or Evening Program (Grades K-8)
Afternoon Program: Kindergarten through sixth grade classes will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 – 5:30 pm. The curriculum used is the Image of God series from Ignatius Press. Classes will be held in St. Mary’s Education Center. Classes will meet an average of two Wednesdays each month from September through May. Bill Klein will be the coordinator of the Elementary Afternoon program.
Evening Program: Kindergarten through 8th grade will attend classes from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. (The Evening Program includes the tradition 7/8 Junior High Program). The curriculum that will be used is the Image of God series from Ignatius Press. Classes for 7th grade will be held at the Education Center and 8th grade will be held at the John & Mary Bldg. Classes will meet an average of two Wednesdays each month from September through May. Bill Klein is the coordinator.
Intergenerational sessions will be faith formation classes for the entire family and all members of the tri-parishes of St. Charles, St. Mary, and St. Michael, even if you do not have children enrolled in the faith formation program. Adults will meet at the same time as the children and the faith formation sessions will be held the 1st Wednesday of the month from October through May. Children in kindergarten through eighth grade will be in class from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. Parents will have a speaker presentation during this time. These sessions will be held in St. Michael’s facilities. At the end of the evening, adults and parents will be given handouts and materials to use to deepen their faith and to use throughout the month with their children at home. The curriculum that will be used is the Image of God series from Ignatius Press.
In addition to the 1st of the month faith formation classes, the Intergenerational process will also include service nights. The service nights will usually be held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month and these are optional for participants in the Intergenerational process. Participants will meet in St. Michael’s social hall and then various forms of service will be provided for participants to do. Some service opportunities might include, caroling to the homebound in December, packaging food packets for the hungry, cleaning up our community, food scavenger hunts, and many other opportunities that are presented to us. The service nights will be held from 6:30 – 8:00 pm and are for all adults and families in the tri-parishes of St. Charles, St. Mary, and St. Michael – preschool through adults.
