Elementary Faith Formation

Serving the St. Croix Valley for over 35 Years

Our Program
St. Croix Valley Elementary Faith Formation began as a consolidated program in 1971 by the Church of St. Michael, St. Mary and St. Charles to offer the best possible faith formation to the families of our public school children. Our mission is to make the name of Jesus Christ known and loved in our time by living the gospel, teaching the Profession of Faith, celebrating the sacraments, informing about the moral life of Christ, and cultivating Christian prayer for the Church communities of St. Charles, St. Mary, and St. Michael. Every school year, we serve an average of 500 students.

Following are the four options available for children in grades K-6.   The curriculum used for all programs is the Image of God series co-authored by Father LeVoir and published by Ignatius Press.
Option 1:  Day Release - One day each month students are released from their public school to attend faith formation classes.  Families provide transportation to classes in the morning -- students are bussed back to school at the end of the day.  Class sessions run from 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.  The program is staffed with trained professional educators.
Option 2:  Afternoon Program - This program uses the same curriculum as the day program but meets for an hour and a half (4:00-5:30 pm) and average of two Wednesday afternoons each month.
Option 3:  Evening Program - The evening program meets an average of two Wednesday evenings per month from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

St. Croix Valley Elementary Faith Formation Day Release and Afternoon classes are held in St. Mary's Education Center, located at 423 S. 5th St. (5th and Pine St.).   The evening program location is yet to be determined.  For more information, please call 651-439-7142 or email info@scvff.net.

Option4:  Intergenerational/Family Faith sessions is the fourth option for faith formation.  This program is for the entire family and all members of the tri-parishes.  It will meet the first Wednesday evening of the month from 6:30 - 8:00pm and will be located at St. Michael's and SCCS facilities.  Children will be in a classroom setting while adults attend a speaker's presentation.  This program will use the same curriculum as Day Release, Afternoon and Evening Programs.  Adults and parents will be given handouts and materials to use to deepen their faith and to use throughout the month with their children at home.

In addition to the first of the month Intergenerational/Family Faith Formation classes, the Intergenerational/Family Faith program will also include service nights.  The service nights will be held on one other Wednesday of the month from 6:30-8:00pm.  These service nights are optional for participants in this program.  Particpants will meet at St. Michael's social hall and will be provided with that night's project.  Examples are caroling to the homebound in December, packaging food packets for the hungry, cleaning up our community, food scavenger hunts, etc.  The service nights are intended for all adults (with or without children) and families in the tri-parishes - preschool through adults.
